Solo Fire Performance
2008
Ember Erebus, formerly of Montreal's Swan Vestas, back from the dead, performed this solo demonstration of the magical collision between tribal ritual and meditation on a stage made with salt that left unusual sacred geometric ground markings in the grass appearing days after the performances. The show began with a sermon about the kinship of science, art and religion, demonstrated ancient Chinese medical procedures, and ended in a dramatic fire dance with torches, flaming ropes, poi, mace and smoke which she performed at music and theatre festivals in Canada and the States, and on TV.
